Majestic Blog

I have never done a blog before so welcome to my blog.  Please excuse my learning curve. This will be my attempt to keep you updated on the progress we make on bringing the Majestic Theatre back to life.  I fell in love with the theatre and the community it brings together.

Attended SHS from 1957 to 1961 as Wally McCoy. Picked up Mac as a nickname in the Army. Loved the Majestic for Tarzan, Jungle Jim, Whip Wilson, Lash LaRue, Ma and Pa Kettle, Bowery Boys and whatever. The Plumb and the Granada were always competing with the latest movies, but the Majestic was comfort stuff. Thank you for stepping up to lead its resurgence. Is it even still there? If so, in what condition?

Yes, the Majestic Theater is still standing but needs a lot of work...that is what Katie, the owner, is trying to do. Come up with ways to try to get the theater in good shape again. We do have a new modern theater but it isn't in the Downtown area like the Majestic is. Streator Main Street, before the Covid struck the world, was starting to come back to life...we are all still trying to stay open on the Main Street in Streator and if the Majestic is able to be revived again it would be such an asset to our small community. I give Katie a lot of credit for taking this endeavor on. I would hate to see it just fall to ruins, it is such a beautiful and historic building, and remembered fondly by so many! Thank you!
